Galaxy Grove and Kwalee announced the early access release date of Town to City, a cozy city builder featuring charming voxel art.
The game will launch in Early Access on PC via Steam very soon, on September 16.
Town to City lets you build a charming little settlement in an entirely freeform way, without having to rely on a restrictive grid system. While you can paint your roads straight, you don’t have to, and you have plenty of freedom to shape your layout organically.
While in other city builders, detailing is a bonus, here it’s quite different, as placing decorations is a big part of the gameplay. They even change their looks dynamically depending on where you place them.
For instance, a flower planter will look different depending on whether it’s placed on the street or attached to a window.
The art style represents 19th-century Mediterranean towns, and it perfectly fits the voxel art graphics and warm, cozy lighting that permeates the environment.
You can check out a trailer released to accompany the release date announcement below. Incidentally, I played the game at Gamescom, and you can expect a preview here very soon.
Let’s just say that I wishlisted Town to City on the spot. I promise that’s not something I do often, if at all. I was that impressed.
If you’re unfamiliar with Galaxy Grove, the name Town to City may somehow ring a bell because of the developer’s previous title, Station to Station, which enjoys very positive reviews on Steam and features similar charming voxel art.
