Today, Chevrolet revealed its Corvette CX Concept, and in partnership with Polyphony Digital, it also unveiled the Corvette CX.R Vision GT Concept, with both cars coming to Gran Turismo 7.
According to the announcement, the Corvette CX Concept is a hypercar designed to be enjoyed both on the streets and on the track. It’s also an electric 4wd vehicle, using the RESS system to integrate the power unit into the drive system, producing over 2000hp from 4 electric motors.
The Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept is basically a version made exclusively for track use, adding more prominent active aerodynamic features and a lower ride height for downforce and grip. It’s also lighter thanks to the use of lightweight materials, including carbon fiber.
Instead of being a full-fledged EV, it’s a hybrid, combining two electric motors in the front and one motor in the rear, with a high-revving V8 twin turbocharged engine designed to use E-fuel.
You can see both cars in action in the trailer below. They will soon be included in Gran Turismo 7 in an upcoming update.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Vision GT concept, it has always been a very interesting one in the world of Sim Racing.
It involves a variety of prestigious (mostly, with a couple of prominent exceptions) car manufacturers designing concept cars directly for the simulator, merging real-world design and virtual application.
Gran Turismo 7 is currently available for PS5 and PS4. Polyphony Digital has been updating it regularly since its launch in March 2022.
The game has been updated very actively since its release, and the latest update came in July. In terms of cars, it included a rather strange trio: the Honda N-One RS ’22, the Nismo R34 GT-R Z-tune ’05, and the Nissan Qashwai Tekna 190 2wd e-Power ’22.
Recently, Polyphony Digital also announced a collaboration with Xiaomi for the introduction in the sim of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra sports electric vehicle and a Xiaomi Vision GT (speaking of less-than-prominent).
