Today, Code Horizon officially announced that it will no longer be able to meet its original promised timeframe of early 2025 to release the demo for its highly anticipated prospecting simulation title, Gold Mining Simulator 2.
In the Steam post, the developers were fully transparent about the current quality assurance testing and that the QA team’s initial round of tests warranted a delay for the demo. Currently, the development roadmap for Gold Mining Simulator 2 will occur in the following order:
- Demo release (once it’s ready)
- Multiplayer (public playtest)
- Optimization playtest – to check performance on various hardware
- Full game release
As always, the roadmap’s development could shift as feedback and playtests occur, so nothing is set in stone. It has been confirmed that multiplayer will at least be tested publicly, but it will likely come out closer to the game’s full release. In the meantime, Code Horizon stated that they will keep fans updated, as the first official devlog is planned to drop later this month, and that it will feature new gameplay footage, behind-the-scenes updates, and much more.
Originally released back in 2017, Gold Mining Simulator was a hit with fans, rising in popularity thanks to its emphasis on using real-world mining techniques and machines. The sequel looks to build on that success by adding plenty of new gameplay features and challenges while still keeping what made the original a hit.
Gold Mining Simulator 2 does not have an exact release date or price, but it can be wishlisted on Steam. For more information on this and other simulation titles, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
