Last month, GSC Game World rolled out a massive patch for its hit survival FPS Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which featured over 1,200 changes to gameplay. Today, the developer teased their continued commitment to updating the title, highlighting what is yet to come for the 2025 roadmap plans.

So far in 2025, Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has already covered a handful of its goals, implementing critical A-Life fixes, improving stabilization and visuals, removing blockers, and adding new controller abilities (and of course, squirrels).

While no exact date was given for each of the above, it was stated that they will come in quarterly updates, meaning that you can expect one at some point every three months from the previous release. Still to come are the following additions to the game:

  • Mutant Loot
  • Shader Compilation Skip
  • Beta Mod SKD Kit
  • A-Life/AI Updates
  • Player Stash Window Increase
  • Two New Weapons
  • More Stabilization, Optimization, & Anomaly fixes
  • Wide Screen Aspect Ratio Support

The closed beta for the Mod SKD kit will be revealed soon so that players can test it out, which will lead to its eventual full release. Once it comes out, there will be a guide and Steam workshop integration to help newer players understand how to work it.

A-Life and AI updates will be ongoing, with the goal of making smarter human combatants that are better at finding cover and flanking, while also limiting the use of grenades. Mutants will also eat corpses and react to threats, making them feel more realistic to how you’d imagine a mutant surviving the wastelands would.

The list also reminded players that the original Stalker Trilogy is set to get a next-gen update at some point, so be sure to keep your eye out for more news on that. Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is available now on Xbox Series X|S and PC (including Game Pass), starting at $59.99.
