Izumi was introduced on stage by series director Kamone Serizawa himself, and while this time around we don’t get a new trailer since the previous DLC character Ogre has just been revealed, we get to see screenshots and artwork.

Izumi is the wielder of Initiator, which is the final key to unlock the Door of the Night. She attacks with her water powers and she has good range. The scarf she wears can turn into a fish.

In the fifth screenshot below you can check out her new stage, which also has new background music composed by Raito.

The last two images showcase the process of her character design, from the initial idea to the finished illustration. Initially, she had birds as part of her powers, but then the developers decided to go with a fish.

Izumi will be released in August 2025. The team is currently working on her pixel art and balancing.

The Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes tournament at the Arc World Tour was won by Senaru, who showcased a landslide 3-0 victory in the grand finals against Mawaru.

This is perhaps not surprising as Senaru is also the reigning EVO champion after having triumphed during the 2024 edition. He was awarded a $25,000 prize for his win.

If you’re unfamiliar with Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes, it’s the official sequel of Under Night In-Birth, and it was released in January 2024 for PS5, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

The 2D fighting franchise by French Bread debuted all the way back in 2012 and has been quite niche for several years. Yet, it has recently become more well-known leading to its inclusion as a main event at EVO in 2019 and then in 2024 following the release of Sys:Celes. The game will return in the 2025 edition between August 1 and August 3.
