Today Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games released a ship that many saw coming, the Anvil F7C-M Super Horned MK II.

It’s an upgraded version of the exiting Super Hornet, or if you will, a two-seater version of the Hornet Mk II. It’s tankier and better armed compared to it single-seater counterpart, and lets you take on the enemy in space with a friend sitting behind you acting as a gunner.

To celebrate Coramor, the in-lore version of Valentine’s Day, Cloud Imperium Games is also offering the “Heartseeker” version of the ship, which, unlike its predecessor, is not a fully separate ship, but a paint and a gun option, which certainly helps with flexibility.

You can see both the base version and the Heartseeker in the trailers below.

The Super Hornet MK II is available for purchase starting at $220 plus applicable VAT, while the Heartseeker upgrade costs $30 plus applicable VAT.

As usual, keep in mind that you likely shouldn’t purchase ships with real money unless your intention is supporting the game’s development, because they will become available to purchase with in-game currency.

Coramor also offers special skins with a dash of metallic pink for the Hornet Mk II and Zeus Mk II (plus more returning from previous years), the ability to earn an exclusive Spectrum badge in the Arena Commander’s 2v2 dogfight mode, and a creativity contest prompting players to create a comic strip featuring a dating failure in Star Citizen’s universe.

If you’re unfamiliar with Star Citizen, it’s a crowdfunded project directed by Chris Roberts, father of the Wing Commander series. It’s a multiplayer sandbox space simulator that has been in development for over a decade and in alpha for several years. It will be released exclusively for PC at some point in the future.

The crowdfunding total has just passed $785 million and it’s currently at $785,250,491. The game also has 5,536,531 registered users, albeit not all of them are paid customers. Many simply create an account to enjoy the occasional free-to-play periods.

Incidentally, 2024 was the second-best year ever for Star Citizen’s crowdfunding campaign, missing the record only by roughly one million.

A few months ago, Cloud Imperium Games showcased plenty of features and tech coming to Star Citizen, on top of the overall vision for version 1.0, which will be the full release of the game, albeit it doesn’t yet have a date.

It’s worth mentioning that feature development has been somewhat slowed down since the developers are focusing on playability and polish.

A single-player campaign titled Squadron 42 is also in development, starring an exceptional cast of famous actors including Mark Hamill, Henry Cavill, Gary Oldman, Liam Cunningham, Gillian Anderson, and more. Recently we saw plenty of gameplay and learned that it’ll release in 2026.

Since the project has been in development for over a decade, you can also see how Squadron 42 evolved since its first reveals.

Full disclosure: the author of this article has backed Star Citizen’s crowdfunding campaign.
