When Square Enix revealed the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV Mobile, the reveal wasn’t exactly rich with gameplay. Luckily, it’s time to take a look at what the game looks like.
A new video was posted showcasing the abilities of the 9 combat jobs available at launch, which are Warrior, Paladin, Bard, Black Mage, Summoner, Monk, Dragoon, Scholar, and White Mage.
The video was not posted for the Western audience just yet, but it was showcased for the Chinese audience on the local microblogging site Weibo. To watch it, you’ll have to click through the link or the image below as Weibo videos can’t be embedded.
We also get to see the UI, with the abilities arranged in a circle on the bottom right, which is a pretty classic setup for mobile games.
Incidentally, some of the abilities have a rather different animation compared to the game on PC and consoles, so it’s not a straight 1:1 port.
The game is coming at some point in the future for iOS and Android, and will not feature cross-progression or cross-play with the original Final Fantasy XIV, which is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S.
it’s developed by Tencent’s Lightspeed Studios, and if you’d like to hear more, you can watch an interview with producer and director (of the main game) Naoki Yoshida himself.
At the moment, we don’t know when Square Enix will share the same footage for the western audience, but we’ll update this post when and if they do.
