Today, Pearl Abyss revealed they are working on a native console build for their hit sandbox MMORPG Black Desert. The new build will take advantage of next-generation hardware and will be rolled out for free for anyone who currently owns the game on consoles.
While there is no exact release date, we do at least have a window of the first half of 2025. The PS5 version has completed internal development and is nearing platform certification, and development for the Xbox Series X is still in the works.
In the lead-up to these upgraded builds, Black Desert will be getting some new updates:
- Kharazad Accessories: A new upgradeable item set, crafted using existing Deboreka accessories and a new material, Essence of Dawn, obtained from Land of the Morning Light monster zones.
- Accessory Exchange System: A newly introduced system that allows players to exchange parts of the Deboreka accessory set. For example, players can exchange a Deboreka Necklace for a Deboreka Ring.
- Daily Rewards & Special Events: Beneficial items like Mythical Censer and significant buffs for PvE, PvP, and life skills, running until March 2025.
Black Desert was originally released in 2015 as a free-to-play online MMO, though there are some buy-to-play models and versions as well. Since its debut, the game has earned over $1.7 billion in worldwide revenue and has reached over 40 million players.
A prequel series by Pearl Abyss is also in development and is titled Crimson Desert. The game follows a lone mercenary as he navigates both the stunning beauty and cutthroat dangers of Pywel, the war-torn continent where history will be written in blood.
Players will be able to explore this world while completing quests, defeating dangerous enemies, and unlocking powerful items. For more information on both the prequel and updates to the console version, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
