The League of Legends 2024 World Championship Grand Finals is over, and the epic showdown between Bilibili Gaming and T1. For those that missed it, here’s everything that happened between the Opening Ceremony and each game in the Worlds 2024 Grand Finals.
The opening ceremony started with a fast-paced performance from Ashnikko before moving on to a slower, chilling set from Mars Atlas and Tiffany Aris. Aatrox made an appearance, lighting parts of the stage on fire before things slowed down again. At this point, BLG and T1 made an appearance on stage.
After the two performances, the Worlds anthem Heavy is the Crown started playing as Linkin Park rose to the stage. Halfway through the song, a crown came up on the screens while the World Championship Cup rose to the stage. After the song ended, they continued playing the rifts from Heavy is the Crown as the players were introduced.
After it ended, an emotional clip of the players discussing some of the most stressful and emotional parts of playing in Worlds. At the end, the players watched clips of their families speaking to them and wishing them luck.
The first game started right after with picks and bans. T1 banned Jax, Kai’Sa, Kalista, Renata Glasc, and Rakan while BLG banned Aurora, Vi, Varus, Ziggs, and Jhin. The teams locked in as follows:
- T1 Zeus (Gnar) vs BLG Bin (Rumble)
- T1 Oner (Sejuani) vs BLG XUN (Skarner)
- T1 Faker (Yone) vs BLG knight (Sylas)
- T1 Gumayusi (Caitlin) vs BLG Elk (Ashe)
- T1 Keria (Braum) vs BLG ON (Rell)
BLG invaded the jungle before minions spawned, giving Ashe a kill on Catilin that gave BLG a massive advantage. BLG continued pushing this, playing incredibly aggressively and shredding T1 in nearly every fight. They never slowed down, and BLG took the first game.
The second game saw bans on Jax, Yone, Varus, Kindred, and Wukong from T1 and Aurora, Skarner, Vi, Gnar, and Sejuani from BLG. The drafts looked significantly different in this game:
- T1 Zeus (Ornn) vs BLG Bin (Rumble)
- T1 Oner (Nocturne) vs BLG XUN (Xin Zhao)
- T1 Faker (Sylas) vs BLG knight (Galio)
- T1 Gumayusi (Kalista) vs BLG Elk (Ashe)
- T1 Keria (Renata Glasc) vs BLG ON (Rakan)
BLG invaded yet again, killing Kalista in the exact same way as game one. However, T1 met their aggression head-on in subsequent fights and during the laning phase. T1 was able to take the early fights, getting multiple kills on Sylas and Kalista to snowball the game. Ultimately, T1 won game two in the same way BLG won game one.
Game three started with bans for Aurora, Yone, Neeko, Sejuani, and Draven from T1 and Varus, Ashe, Skarner, Akali, and Wukong from BLG.
- T1 Zeus (Jax) vs BLG Bin (Rumble)
- T1 Oner (Vi) vs BLG XUN (Kindred)
- T1 Faker (Sylas) vs BLG knight (Galio)
- T1 Gumayusi (Xayah) vs BLG Elk (Kalista)
- T1 Keria (Renata Glasc) vs BLG ON (Blitzcrank)
While no invasion happened, BLG still won an early advantage. This kept snowballing throughout the entire game, and T1 couldn’t stop them. Ultimately, this led to BLG winning game three, making the entire series score 2-1 for BLG.
Game four started with bans from Jax, Yone, Varus, Blitzacrank, and Xin Zhao from T1 and Aurora, Skarner, Kalista, Vi, and Nocturne from BLG.
- T1 Zeus (Rumble) vs BLG Bin (Gnar)
- T1 Oner (Poppy) vs BLG XUN (Sejuani)
- T1 Faker (Sylas) vs BLG knight (Smolder)
- T1 Gumayusi (Ashe) vs BLG Elk (Ziggs)
- T1 Keria (Renata Glasc) vs BLG ON (Rakan)
BLG started the game strong, targeting Rumble and taking him down three times in less than seven minutes. Despite this, T1 was able to take Voidgrubs and the first dragon, and Faker was able to take out Ziggs to tie up gold between the two teams. Several major team fights happened, and T1 continued coming out on top.
During this, T1 got several major objectives, taking the reigns on the game. This game also led to Faker getting his 500th kill in a Worlds game during this game. T1 continued pushing ahead and won the game after catching out Rakan and Gnar. This tied the series at 2-2.
The League of Legends 2024 World Championship Finals progressed to an intense game five. T1 banned Aurora, Yone, Kalista, Wukong, and Kindred and BLG banned Varus, Ashe, Skarner, Rakan, and Renata Glasc.
- T1 Zeus (Gragas) vs BLG Bin (Jax)
- T1 Oner (Xin Zhao) vs BLG XUN (Jarvan IV)
- T1 Faker (Galio) vs BLG knight (Ahri)
- T1 Gumayusi (Xayah) vs BLG Elk (Kai’Sa)
- T1 Keria (Poppy) vs BLG ON (Rell)
The fight stayed close between team fights and objectives. T1 was slowly pulling ahead throughout the game, and two major fights let T1 completely end the game.
This was T1’s fifth Worlds win. The team’s journey has been a long one, and a documentary on YouTube details a lot of it.
