Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 lets you explore its beautiful digital twin of Earth on foot, but that’s quite slow. Enter the upcoming Project Crosskart by Got Friends.

The third-party developer will soon release a quick and agile little buggy named “Project Crosskart” that will put wheels under your exploration of the simulator’s massive world (and that of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 as well, since it’s coming for both).

While the concept isn’t new, and ground vehicles already exist, it’s always nice to have options, and more players in the market are always welcome.

We have seen quite a bit of the buggy, including a video from Got Friends themselves yesterday, and Simulation has been offered early access to the beta version, so we decided to take it out for a spin.

It’s a lot of fun, very easy to control, and quite enjoyable when navigating most of the simulator’s landscape (it gets challenging mostly around photogrammetry cities, but that was to be expected), so we decided to provide you with a look of what you can expect in the form of a ton of screenshots as we explored some interesting areas of the planet, from airports to points of interest, deserts and country roads.

You can check the gallery out for yourself below.

As you can see in one of the screenshots, Crosskart can be customized with a handful of accessories via an in-sim menu, and you can pick between three different tire threads that enable different levels of grip.

Its speed and maneuverability feel great, quite well balanced to stay on a road if you so wish (but you don’t need to) while exploring at an enjoyable pace. It’s certainly a different perspective compared to flying, but it bypasses the inherent slowness of walking around on foot.

Incidentally, we tested Crosskart in the beta version of Sim Update 1 of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and we encountered no issues. Performance was smooth as silk on our rig equipped with an RTX 4080, Core i7 13700K, and 32 GB of RAM running at 1440p and Ultra settings.

The buggy doesn’t yet have a release date, but when it does release it’ll be quite affordable, priced at $9.99. It’s coming for both PC and Xbox, so no one will be left out.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently available for both PC and Xbox Series X|S.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is currently available for the same platforms following its recent release in November. if you want to see the visual difference against Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, you can enjoy our video and screenshot comparison.

Incidentally, a few days ago, Microsoft shared an extensive update about its plans for MSFS 2024, so you may want to read it.

You can also check out our in-depth analysis of how much data the simulator downloads from the cloud, clearing the air from some widespread misinformation that made the rounds over the past few weeks.

You can also watch our latest interview with Jorg Neumann, the previous interview with Neumann himself and Sebastian Wloch, another with Asobo CCO David Dedeine, and one featuring Chris Burnett of Working Title and Brandon Yaeger of Got Friends about their work on MSFS 2024.
