Like its last few patches, Vein update 0.016 features a considerable amount of changes, fixes, and overall improvements to the user’s quality-of-life experience. This includes changes to one of the biggest areas of criticism for the game since its release: crafting and inventory.

Now, crafting involves a process where you’ll add specific items to a queue, which will pull from the workbench’s inventory when added. Objects are made when the window is open for crafting and recipes are cooked while the stove or fireplace is hot.

Stat requirements have been adjusted considerably as of Vein update 0.016, as certain buildable utilizes, fortifications, and recipes will require you to have minimum stat or schematic requirements to be built. Alongside item changes, textures and art have also been improved throughout the game.

High-quality resolution textures that were originally downscaled for performance-related issues have been restored, the landscape has received overhaul textures, and zombies have higher-resolution textures to improve their appearance. More importantly, pet images can now be added in, so you’ll always be able to have your buddy alongside you in the apocalypse.

From the server admin side, you’ll now be able to ban players. This feature was originally missing due to a lack of people playing multiplayer, and more features will be added to improve the control for server administrators in the future.

This is just the latest in a handful of massive updates Vein has received since its soft release in demo form back in 2023. The previous 0.015 patch improved lighting elements, updated hit animations, and completely overhauled furniture and interiors.

Vein is currently free to play on PC in early access and will also be available on Xbox Series X|S when it is officially released. For more information on the patch, head over to the official Steam page, which gives the full list of fixes, changes, and improvements coming with the update.
