To kick things off, Senior Artist Jade Evans spoke about the importance of individuality in Witchbrook.

This starts with the beginning, when players can create their character with a variety of skin tones and hair styles that range in texture. There are also several fringe/bang options, as well as facial hair.

These can be changed at any point at the local salon, Fringe Culture, and there’s nothing locked behind the character’s gender. Players can get a look at this in the video below:

Character customization doesn’t just stop here, though — it also bleeds into clothing choices.

Right now, there are over 60 unique clothing items to choose from. These all have their own color variations, and players can have up to 11 layers of clothing.

These clothes are sorted into different brands that are sold at the local clothing shop, Calico. Players can get a look at some of the outfit possibilities below:

Evans also went into detail about how development came about for over 1,300 frames of animation for the player’s character, as well as how developing clothes with these animations in mind works.

Fans can check out the full developer blog here to get a breakdown of the development process for these features.

These deep customization features don’t just apply to the player. They also apply to the other characters in the game. Whether it’s an NPC walking down the road or one of the bachelors or bachelorettes, these same concepts can be seen in their characters.

Speaking of, Chucklefish also revealed Cormac, one of the bachelors of the game. As a “self-proclaimed black sheep,” Cormac is an artist who’s always covered in paint.

Witchbrook is set to release in 2026 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. While the game was originally set to release during the 2025 Holiday season, Chucklefish is a zero-crunch studio and pushed back the release.
