Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 is celebrating its first anniversary with a massive, free Anniversary Update to kick off its Year Two content.
The Anniversary Update and Year Two roadmap details were revealed last month, though more extensive details are here now that the update is live. The full patch notes can be found here, but here’s an overview of the new features:
- New Vortex Operation that shows off the new Mutalith Vortex Beast boss
- New PvP Arena, Bridge, that’s set on Avarax
- New PvE game mode, Stratagems, which will have daily and weekly gameplay modifiers
- New PvP game mode, Helbrute Onslaught, which includes a playable Helbrute
- Three new weapons: Pyreblaster, Pyrecannon, and Power Axe
- New weapon variants, like the Xenophase Blade, Combi Melta, and double-edged Chainsword
- New Majoris enemy, the Chaos Spawn, which has three variants
- Six Chaos Champion skins that can be unlocked in Eternal War mode
There are also plenty of quality-of-life improvements, along with some customization changes, too. For example, players can now use Champion skins on any of the game’s classes. Players can check out the full patch notes here.
There’s also a Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 Anniversary Update video, which players can watch below:
Today is also the launch of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2’s second Season Pass, which means the first two DLCs were released: The Black Templars Champion Pack and the Imperial Fists Cosmetic Pack.

All of this is happening as Focus Entertainment has also announced that it’s developing Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 3.
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It’s currently 50% off on Steam as part of the Focus Publisher weekend.
