The update is a rather big one, as the name certainly suggests, and it comes with plenty of new vehicles.

There’s new hardware pretty much for everyone, including aircraft, ground vehicles, and even the biggest ships ever included in the game.

The new aircraft are the Japanese F-2A Viper Zero, and the Czechoslovakian-built L-39ZA Albatros (for the Russian tree). Germany is also getting a whole Swiss sub-tree, including the following.

  • Hunter F.58A (1971) (Switzerland)
  • F-5E (Switzerland)
  • Mirage IIIS C.70 (Switzerland)
  • F/A-18C (Switzerland) (Pack)
  • F/A-18C Late (Switzerland)
  • C-3604 (Pack)

A few smaller additions have been made to the French, Italian, and Swedish trees.

Of course, flying vehicles aren’t limited to fighters, and we also get the new RAH-66 Comanche helicopter.

On the naval side of things, several massive battleships have been added: Yamato for Japan, Bismarck for Germany, HMS Vanguard for the UK, Sovetsky Soyuz for Russia, and USS Iowa for the United States.

Ground vehicles get several anti-aircraft entries, including some that come with multiple vehicles. They’re as follows.

  • EldE 98
  • CLAWS
  • Tan-SAM kai
  • IRIS-T SLM
  • SPYDER
  • CS/SA5
  • MSC
  • Badger

The Falklands has been added as a new air battle map, while mixed battles get tw visually overhauled locations, Berlin and Kuban.

The multi-vehicle system mentioned above involves the CLAWS (USA), IRIS-T SLM (Germany), and Tan-SAM kai (Japan). It lets you spawn with the main radar vehicle with no weapons, and you can then deploy launchers.

This also involves the new radar screen introduced a few days ago, while the update also comes with miscellaneous interface improvements and a spiffy fuel dumping feature.

You can check everything out in the trailer below and read the full patch notes on Steam.

War Thunder is a rather popular free-to-play (with optional microtransactions) online simulator-lite with plenty of aircraft and vehicles to enjoy in ground, air, sea, and mixed battles. You can play it on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
