First of all, we hear that the game has received quite a lot of visibility as of late, causing a spike in active players, which of course the developers are grateful for.

They have also decided to release hotfixes more often to address bugs and performance issues as they appear, instead of waiting for large patches. The plan is to do so on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

The video then showcases plenty of quality-of-life and gameplay improvements that are coming in the next update, while the developers are also working on broader issues.

Those are resynchronization between players in multiplayer, a solution for which is being investigated but has not been found yet, on top of ballooning save game sizes, which will be solved with better compression.

Another element that the developers are looking at is zombie movement, which is taxing for the CPU and is a limiting factor for the number of zombies in the world.

If you’re unfamiliar with Vein, it’s a first-person zombie survival game that could be considered roughly as a fully 3D version of the popular Project Zomboid.

It’s available for PC on Steam, and a very interesting fact is that it’s provided as a free demo until development is complete. This is certainly a rather user-friendly alternative to early access, meaning that you can download and enjoy the current build without having to spend any money.

Of course, the developers accept donations, but it’s entirely optional and provides no benefits besides the satisfaction of having contributed to the development of an interesting game.

While the game is available in its demo form only on PC, it’ll also come for Xbox Series X|S when it’s completed.
