Vein Update 0.018 Adds Tutorial, Clothing Decomposition, & More

Ramjet Studios is back with another considerable list of features and fixes for its up-and-coming open-world zombie survival game Vein.

Like the timeframe between the last two updates, Vein 0.018 comes just one month after the release of 0.017. While this means it isn’t as big a patch as some of the previous ones, it indicates that the indie developers are hitting a much faster release cycle as of late.

The first big change with Vein 0.018 is perfect for new players, as they’ve now introduced a tutorial system. You’ll be given a simple quest at the start of the game that has you investigate and fix up a remote cabin, breaking down the basics of crafting, survival, and more.

Stat perks have also been added up to level 50 for all stats that have an effect in the game. There are a few empty stats that are included in the game that are reserved for planned NPC and human AI systems.

Clothes now also take damage, meaning you’ll have to manage each individual item’s wear and tear. They’ll become damaged whenever you do, and will have fewer damage protection effects. You’ll be able to either fix these at workbenches or use ones that you don’t want to repair for fuel.

Other small changes like zombies looking at you when noticed, gas tanks leaking, and a tooltip for vehicle UIs have also been added. You can see the full list of 0.018 patch improvements, bugs, and fixes here.

Vein is currently free to play on PC in early access and will also be available on Xbox Series X|S when it is officially released. You can also head over to the official Steam page for the full list of fixes, changes, and improvements coming with the update.
