Players have enjoyed the zombie survival game Vein as a free and regularly updated demo for a long time, but things will change soon with the early access phase.

The developers at Ramjet Studios have finally decided that the game is ready for a paid release, so the early access will start on October 24.

It’ll be priced at $19.99 with a 10% launch discount, which is still rather affordable. You can also purchase the soundtrack for $7.99, and purchasing it together with the game will grant a 10% discount.

The soundtrack will actually be expanded with new music as development progresses.

The biggest new element will be the new 4x4km region north of the map featured in the demo, including the towns of Dannemora and Lyon Mountain.

The region includes “Clinton Correctional Facility, the Lyon Mountain Mines, a quarantine zone, various shops like pharmacies, restaurants, gift shops, etc. Many smaller towns and points of interest are accessible in the 4x4km region, such as Standish, the Chazy Highlands, Russia, various caves, camp sites, depots, and more.”

The free demo will remain available, but with a lower stat cap set at 50, while the early access version will cap stats at 100.

The new area includes new content like zombie variants, tools, and weapons. It’ll naturally continue to evolve, while the demo won’t expand beyond the current borders. That being said, it’ll continue to be updated in parallel.

Sve games between the two are only partly compatible. You can transfer your character from the demo to the Early Access version, but you’ll lose all the changes you’ve made to the world.

Since Vein is a passion project, the developers have pledged to continue updating it regardless of how well it does financially.

The final map size is planned to become 14.5×14.5km, and you can also take a look at a roadmap of updates on the official site.
