Today, Coffee Stain Publishing and Iron Gate announced that their hit indie Viking survival game, Valheim, will be coming to PS5 in 2026.
While not much information was given regarding the port to PlayStation Iron Gate co-founder Henrik Törnqvist spoke on how excited they are to be expanding to the Sony console:
“We’re thrilled for Valheim to soon reach even more players with the upcoming launch on PlayStation”, Törnqvist. “Bringing both new and longtime players to a new platform allows even more people to explore the world we’ve worked so hard to build, and we can’t wait to hear their stories as they’re able to dive into their Viking adventures.”
Valheim is currently in Early Access on PC and Xbox Series X|S, originally releasing back in February 2021. Since its release, the title has accrued numerous accolades, including Best Indie Game, Best Debut, and Ongoing Support, while also selling over 12 million copies on Steam alone.
Gameplay revolves around survival and exploration elements that challenge players to battle, build and carve out their legacy in the tenth realm, featuring up to 10-player co-op that is set in procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by Viking culture.
In order to survive and prosper, must gather natural resources found throughout the world, either through foraging, hunting, mining, or farming to build shelters, make tools and equipment, and forge weapons. Other survival elements include health and stamina bars that will be drained by performing actions like running or attacking, and can be replenished by food – which will heal you based on quality – and taking shelter to rest.
The survival title has also recently celebrated its Call To Arms update, which marked another considerable milestone in the lead-up to its 1.0 release, which will coincide with the 2026 release on the Sony console. Valheim is currently available on Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, starting at $19.99.
