Train World Sim 5 is about to get a lot bigger, as the Isle of Sodor and all of its charismatic trains will be making their way into the simulation title at some point in 2025.
In collaboration with Mattel, the add-on will be all about Thomas and his friends visiting the West Somerset Railway in the game – which itself is a separate add-on from the main game and will be required to play this DLC. The characters that will be a part of the update include Thomas the Tank Engine, Annie, Clarabel, Diesel, and the Troublesome Trucks.
Each character will play a part in a multi-part story, which revolves around everyone’s favorite blue steam locomotive. While the story is the main focus, you’ll also be able to drive each of these trains on any route using the Free Roam feature of Train World Sim 5.
Alongside the Thomas the Tank Engine news, the Steam post also reminded fans about the full road map for Train World Sim 5 as of December 2024, which you can see below:
For those unfamiliar with the series, Train Sim World was first released in 2017 and has come out annually ever since, featuring seven titles under various different names. The aim of the game is pretty straightforward, as it allows players to create a diverse array of routes and ride some of the most infamous ones in the world, transporting you through everything from bustling cities to steep mountain passes.
Train Sim World 5: Standard Edition is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC (Epic Games Store & Steam) for $$29.99. There is a slew of additional DLC to download, which includes locations like the 100 Mile-Long West Coast Main Line: Preston – Carlisle and plenty of premium train-based content.
