The sim was revealed last month, but now we learn that it’ll launch on September 30, 2025, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PS4.

As usual, players who own Train Sim World 5 will be able to simply jump into the sixth installment of the franchise via the Free Starter Pack (available until November 11, 2025), and import all the compatible route and trains that they already own.

Even for those who don’t have the previous game, the Free Starter Pack functions as a pretty good demo, coming with steam, diesel and electric locomotives within the Training Center route, on top of tutorials and tasks to complete.

One if the sim’s new and most relevant addition focuses on unexpected events. This include toggleable random events and train faults that you’ll have to deal with during the simulation.

A trailer was released showcasing what you can expect from the sim.

There will be three different editions for those who want more than the core content, starting with the Standard Edition at $49.99,  followed by the Deluxe Edition at $79.99, and lastly the Special Edition at $119.99.

In the infographics below, you can check out all the routes and trains included in each edition.

The press release also included a comment from Executive Producer Matt Peddlesden, who explains how random events and announcements were features requested by the community.

“We’ve been keen to listen to players in our recent surveys and feedback to give them the features and content they’ve been asking for. Random events and audible announcements have been at the top of their list for some time, and we can’t wait for players to experience them in new routes and trains that they’ve also been requesting”
