Today, Dovetail Games released Train Sim World 6 patch 1.023, which focuses on core gameplay refinements, audio improvements, and extensive fixes for North American freight content.
Train Sim World 6 patch 1.023 update features plenty of quality-of-life changes, such as fixing incorrect speed readings from rear-facing cabs and ensuring overspeed penalties (alarms and brake enforcement) remain active until acknowledged. An issue with Guard Mode, in which players would spawn outside the train during delayed-start services, has been resolved.
The Santa Fe on Cajon Pass Gameplay Pack got a significant tuning, with over 40 refinements to Locomotive and Rolling Stock:
- C40-8W Locomotive: Rebuilt the cab interior to match the exterior roof and replaced the analog speedometer with a digital one.
- SD40-2: Added a functional in-cab EOTD (End of Train Device) unit and improved railroad logo fonts.
- Stability: Improved Formation Designer stability, preventing freezes when selecting vehicles.
- Freight Wagons: Fixed brake wheel animations and restored missing materials for the 3-Bay Covered Hopper, 86ft Boxcar, and Cement Hopper.
In the audio and visuals department, dynamic liveries have been added to Umbauwagen coaches, and button animations and hotplate switch behavior have been improved in the BR 194 / E94 Railtour Pack. Environmental audio has also been boosted for external rolling stock audio when windows or doors are open, and reduced interior coach noise for the BR 111 at high speeds.
Another primary highlight of Train Sim World 6 Northeast Corridor: New York – Stamford route is the resolution of a critical brake issue for the M8, clearing the way for the Northeast Corridor: New York – Stamford route, which is set to release tomorrow, March 19, 2025. It spans 54 miles and includes 24 stations, connecting Grand Central Terminal and New York Penn Station to Stamford Transportation Center.

The 24-hour timetable includes almost 600 playable services with all layers, featuring special trains for baseball and football games, and over 18 hours of freight gameplay, including switching and locals that serve customers along nearly the entire route. The add-on comes with three trains: the Metro-North M8, the Amtrak ACS-64 with Amfleet coaches, and the CSX SD40-2. The 89-foot flatcar with trash containers and additional freight cars that have been moved to the core.
Freight cars used on the Train Sim World 6 Northeast Corridor: New York – Stamford route include a two-bay aggregate hopper, a covered hopper, a boxcar, a tank car, and a centerbeam flatcar. It will also include four M8 scenarios and one ACS-64 scenario:
- Student Engineer (M8) – You’ve recently transferred to the New Haven Line and are joined by a road foreman to cover operating details and points of interest on your run to Grand Central Terminal.
- Drawbridge Drama (M8) – It’s a hot summer evening rush, and the Mianus River bridge hasn’t closed properly after opening for boat traffic. Fight through the delays to get your passengers home.
- Snow Day (M8) – A storm is rolling in during morning rush hour. Fight the flakes and get commuters to work on time.
- New Year’s Resolution (M8) – Every New Year’s Eve, over a million people gather in Times Square to watch the ball drop and ring in the new year. Keep an eye out for fireworks as you bring revelers home in the wee hours of January 1st.
- Hours of Service (ACS-64) – You’ve been delayed by a power outage and have just enough time to complete your trip before you hit 12 hours on duty and cannot continue working. Can you make it to your destination before timing out?
Key landmarks vary from the debut of a fully modeled, two-level Grand Central Terminal and the iconic Hell Gate Bridge.
Grand Central Terminal comes to life if you own the Harlem Line route, providing the M7A and M3A to operate Harlem and Hudson Line services; trains that stop at Yankees-E 153rd Street, Botanical Garden, or Fordham are playable, about 150 in total, while the rest appear as AI trains. The Amtrak ACS-64 handles intercity trains between Penn Station and Stamford over the monumental Hell Gate Bridge, giving players some nostalgia for the old NEC New York route, though most of the scenery and track were recreated from scratch.
After plenty of requests, Dovetail Games has also added Journey Mode alongside Train Sim World 6 Northeast Corridor: New York – Stamford route, which simulates a real work day of chained services, like real train crews, and designed the Journey Mode to give you this “day in the life” experience and work through the seasons to complete an entire year of work.
