Today, Dovetail Games is ringing in the holiday season for Train Sim World 6 with some special goodies.
As a way of finishing out its Season of Reveals 2025 event, Train World 6 will let players download a free Add-on, Spirit of Steam, available to keep forever at no cost as long as it is downloaded before January 5, 2026. Alongside this, a first look at gameplay for the upcoming Great Western Express Remaster was revealed, showcasing the simulator’s completely overhauled features and route.
The Spirit of Steam: Liverpool Lime Street-Crewe add-on unlocks access to steam rail tours across other UK routes, decals for the Jubilee and Stanier locomotives in mastery challenges, and more. You’ll take control of the LMS Jubilee Class locomotive, covered in BR Brunswick Green livery and adorned with BR’s late crest, as well as the LMS Stanier 8F Class locomotive, boasting BR Late Black guise and 2-8-0 wheel configuration better suited to hauling lower speed, heavy freight trains.

The route runs along the West Coast Main Line, over the Runcorn Railway Bridge, and right into the heart of Merseyside. The Spirit of Steam Add-on also unlocks steam rail tour services and AI traffic on other Train Sim World routes:
- Southeastern Highspeed
- Blackpool Branches
- WCML: Preston – Carlisle
- WCML: Birmingham – Crewe
- Glossop Line
We also got a good look at the first 10 Minutes of Great Western Express: Remastered, which fans have been highly anticipating for a while now. The new 2017 timetable for GWE will layer in up to 23 UK add-on, featuring 4,674 services, with 1,335 playable services. This is over 5x the number of total services, and over 3x the number of playable services compared to the original timetable, making it the second-largest UK timetable ever in the series.
The remaster will feature 2 new stations: Royal Oak Station and Westbourne Park, new London Underground platforms at Ealing Broadway, all Circle and Hammersmith & City line services playable using a Class 484 with a London Underground-inspired livery to represent the D-Stock trains, and more.
