Today, Dovetail Games announced the next installment of the Train Sim World franchise, simply titled Train Sim World 6.
The game will be released in 2025 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4. The PC version will be available on Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Windows Store.
If you’re not familiar with the franchise, you may be surprised by a new release coming only a year after Train Sim World 5, but thanks to the Free Starter Pack, everyone who has the previous installments can upgrade at no additional cost, while new players have a chance to try the game without committing.
Of course, paid options will be available, including additional routes and locomotives. As usual, most content from the previous installments will be forward compatible.
Dobetail promises that key optimization improvements will come with the new release, ensuring that even players on weaker platforms will be able to enjoy the simulation.
Incidentally, we also hear that there will be a Dovetail Direct livestream on August 26 when Train Sim World 6 will be fully revealed alongside new games from the developer.
During a livestream hosted today, we also got a roadmap for both Train Sim World 5 and Train Sim World 6.
You can check it out below, including add-ons coming for TSW6 from third-party partner developers.
Incidentally, the next add-on for TSW5, the Class 86/2, now has a release date, July 15, 2025.
You can watch the full livestream on demand below.
If you’re interested in content for Train Sim World 5 (which will very likely be forward compatible for TSW6), you can check out the Manchester Airport Commuter Add-on, which was launched just a few days ago.
