Today, Dovetail Games showed off the first official look at the next add-on route for its hit simulation title, Train Sim World 5, a German track, Mittenwaldbahn: Innsbruck – Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Alongside the first look, a release date of February 11, 2025, was also revealed.
This is the second such German track introduced into Train Sim World 5, following yesterday’s release of the Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn route. It will be set in 1989, featuring a cross-border running between Austria and Germany and introducing the classic Krokodil-style locomotive.
Also known as the Karwendelbahn, this DLC shows off the Alps, featuring many tunnels and iconic bridges that run through the mountainsides. Ruling gradients are as steep as 3.8%, but the iconic scenery, which boasts sights of the peaks and valleys and rails rising as high as 1.1km above sea level, makes the trip well worth it.
The trains, coaches, and wagons that are being introduced in the Mittenwaldbahn DLC include:
- ÖBB 1020 ‘Krokodil’
- DBB BR 111
- Silberlinge’ Bn and ABn coaches
- DBB Es50 and DBB rmms663 wagons
- Tadgs 959 and Shimmns 708 wagons
Both the trains mentioned above haul trains across the entire route, and the timetable will feature services focused primarily on the ÖBB 1020, which has 104 playable services, with a supporting 63 services from the DBB BR 111. BR 365 from Niddertalbahn and BR 103 from Linke Rheinstrecke will also have two additional service layers coming alongside the add-on.
Lastly, the route will have plenty of collectibles and tasks to complete, including putting up stickers, replacing milk bottles, and tidying up luggage racks and ski equipment.
