Today Dovetail Games announced the first DLC that will officially be released for the railroad simulator Train Sim World 5.
The DLC focus on the MBTA Commuter line between Boston and Framingham/Worcester in the United States. It’ll release on October 29.
Below you can check out a trailer showing it off.,
The announcement post also illustrates the locomotives that you can expect in the DLC, and they’re as follows:
- MBTA HSP46 Diesel Locomotive
- MBTA F40PH-3C Diesel Locomotive
- BTC & CTC Coaches (Bi-level & Single-level)
Of course, the DLC’s content, including the BTC and CTC single-level cars, will be compatible with the new Conductor Mode, which does what it says on the tin, letting you check passenger tickets, clear the aisles of baggage, and operate the door controls at stations.
You can check out a bunch of screenshots below, alongside an infographic of the route, which ends at Boston South Station, where you’ll be able to use the new Route Hopping feature to jump onto the Boston – Providence route.
In further news, we learn that the Train Sim World 5: Free Starter Pack available on all platforms will be extended to early 2025. This means that if you have a previous version of the simulator, you can upgrade to the core features of 5 free of charge, and use it with compatible add-ons that you already have or with this one if you decide to purchase it.
All you’ll be missing are the routes and new content introduced with the new simulator, but you’ll get to enjoy all the innovations and features.
Train Sim World 5 is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
