Today, Dovetail Games revealed the first Welsh add-on for its hit simulation title, Train Sim World 5, which will transport players across the Cardiff City Network. The route is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC (Epic Games Store & Steam) for $39.99.
Cardiff City Network features plenty of new additions to Train Sim World 5, including Canton Depot, two new trains, and around 500 playable services. This urban route boasts six end points that cover the lines stemming from the capital city Cardiff’s two principal stations: Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street.
As you explore these different Cardiff locations, you’ll notice iconic landmarks such as the Principality Stadium and Millennium Centre creating the backdrop amongst the busy commuter action. You’ll be able to get around in the all-new Class 153 DMU in Transport for Wales or TfW (Trafnidiaeth Cymru) with an updated version of the Class 150 DMU, which was also in the West Cornwall Local add-on.
Alongside the new trains and locations, bilingual station signage is present throughout the route. Just like in real life, you can find them at stations like Radyr, Penarth, Coryton, and Cardiff Bay.
As with other add-ons, you’ll find a series of fun collectibles throughout the DLC, including:
- Leeks – a nod to our one and only Leek-master JD and a reference to a national emblem of Wales, stemming from legendary soldiers allied to King Cadwaladr of Gwynedd.
- Welsh Cakes – local delicacy formed of sweet bread with fat and dried fruit.
- Lovespoons – traditionally presented in Wales as a gift of romantic intent.
