Star Wars Jedi and Apex Legends Developer Respawn Affected by Layoffs and Project Cancellations
Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts announced that two projects in the early stage of incubation have been canceled, with the developer refocusing on Apex Legends and the Star Wars Jedi franchise.
While the text of the announcement isn’t too explicit, it’s obvious that it indicates layoffs, which is always unpleasant, even more so when the wording tries so hard to dance around the issue.
What is mentioned more explicitly is that the third game of the Star Wars Jedi series is confirmed, albeit details have not been provided.
Lost Soul Aside Delayed
Ultizero Games announced that the highly anticipated action RPG Lost Soul Aside will be released a bit later than previously announced.
Instead of May 30, the game will now be coming on August 29, 2024, for PS5 and PC. The development team simply would like to spend more time polishing the game to deliver a high-quality experience.
We’ve waited for Lost Soul Aside for a long time, and I certainly feel that it’s worth waiting a little longer.
Borderlands 4 Release Date Pushed Forward
Gearbox announced that the release date for Borderlands 4 has been pushed forward by a couple of weeks.
The game will now release on September 12, 2025 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Previously, the release was expected for September 23, 2025.
We also learn that tomorrow, April 30, there will be a dedicated PlayStation State of Play showcasing plenty of gameplay. You can certainly expect a report here after it airs.
