Final Fantasy XIV Mobile Officially Announced

Today Square Enix announced Final Fantasy XIV Mobile, a mobile version of the popular MMORPG developed by Tencent’s Lightspeed Studios.

The existence of the game had been leaked a while ago, but now we officially know that it’s coming, with the intent of “faithfully” recreating the original game’s story and combat experience, while optimizing them from mobile.

Additional elements like the Gold Saucer, crafting and gathering, housing, and much more will be available, but only 9 combat jobs will be included at launch.

This appears to indicate (albeit the announcement doesn’t mention it directly) that Final Fantast XIV mobile may be a completely separate experience from the original game, without any cross-play.

We’ll keep you informed as soon as we har something more.
