Ipoh Sultan Azlan Shah Airport Announced for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Frankfurt Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator Gets Major Performance Update

Aerosoft released update 1.1 of its massive Frankfurt Airport (EDDF), and it’s a relevant one as it improves performance, which is a primary issue in airports of this size.

The announcement made on Discord details what you can expect.

“Jo, Lukas and their team have worked hard to make one of our most successful releases even better for you. They spent over a month optimising it. But what exactly did they do, and what can you expect from this update to version 1.1?

On paper, it’s impressive that they reduced the VRAM usage by 1.6 GB. This is a significant amount, but it’s not just the VRAM usage that has been optimised. Although this was the main focus, textures, models, LOD settings, etc. have also been optimised. It’s important to know that optimisation doesn’t mean lower quality. Our main goal was to achieve this, and we did. You won’t notice any difference between the optimised and normal versions in terms of visuals.

In reality, this 1.6 GB can be reached, but on most systems it will be a solid 1 GB less. PCs with mid-range or lower specs will benefit the most. If you have an Nvidia 4090 or higher, you most likely wouldn’t have had any issues with the normal version either. However, you will certainly have a better experience flying online on VATSIM or IVAO, using traffic tools, etc.

Some users reported that there were some performance drops when facing towards Terminal 2. This was caused by the nearby city of Frankfurt, mainly due to the large forest to the north of the terminal and the surrounding area. This has now been fixed. There will be no more frame drops because of trees.”
