Katowice Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator Gets New Screenshots and Development Update

Drzewiecki Design revealed more work-in-progress screenshots of the upcoming Katowice Airport (EPKT) in Poland.

The post also included the usual brief development update from the developer.

“Progress at Katowice continues, with more key components of the airport infrastructure coming together this week. Every layer and object added brings us closer to delivering a highly detailed and immersive version of one of Poland’s busiest regional airports.

On the airside, Hangar No. 2 is in development. This large maintenance structure is one of the most recognizable facilities at Katowice, and it will provide additional depth to the airport’s industrial and technical zones.

The railway system is also expanding. New overpasses and railway lines are being laid out, adding both realism and functionality to the airport’s surroundings. The recently completed railway sidings and fuel tanks further enhance the cargo and service areas, giving simmers a sense of the heavy logistics activity that supports daily operations.

Landside areas are evolving rapidly too. Parking zones are being layered and textured with a variety of surfaces — asphalt, concrete, paving blocks, and dirt/weathering overlays. These subtle details add depth and authenticity, ensuring that every square meter of the airport feels true to life. Careful blending of colors and textures makes transitions between surfaces seamless and realistic.

All of these developments are part of a larger vision to capture Katowice Airport not only as a collection of buildings and runways, but as a living transport hub with its own character. The combination of modern terminals, industrial facilities, integrated rail access, and extensive cargo areas makes EPKT stand out as a unique gateway in southern Poland.”
