Flight Simulation developers shared news today, including releases for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, MSFS 2020, and even Lockheed Martin Prepar3D and the venerable Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

Avro Lancaster for Microsoft Flight Simulator Released

Aeroplane Heaven released the Avro Lancaster bomber. It’s available on Orbx Direct and the developer’s own store for $35.

Here’s a list of features.

  • All new Hi-Fidelity models with exceptional levels of detail.
  • Beautifully crafted exterior and interior models built using factory plans and drawings for complete accuracy.
  • Accurately modeled crew stations with many unique features and animations.
  • All 3 turrets modeled with interior details and special camera views.
  • Unique configuration panels at each station control camera view selection and crew selection (visibility).
  • Complete 7- man crew faithfully modeled and each toggled on or off via special configuration controls.
  • Immersive diorama including standing crew by rear door, authentic “Matador” fuel truck, period starting cart and bomb trolley with various bombs.
  • Beautifully rendered, detailed Rolls Royce Merlin XX beneath removable engine cover.
  • Highly accurate flight dynamics and performance based on real-world data.
  • Specially created sound pack, authored by Echo19 to provide the finest Lancaster sounds ever heard in a simulator.
  • Completely authentic engine start and running routines and engine management.
  • Separate “Dambuster” version depicting Guy Gibson’s Lancaster with rotating “Upkeep” bomb and twin height-defining spotlights.
  • Separate “H2S” version with H2S radar dome and internals.

We also get a list of liveries.

  • LM591 “VN B” 50 Squadron RAF
  • ME649 “AR_J” 103 Squadron RAF
  • W4783 “AR_G” 469 Squadron RAAF
  • Battle of Britain Memorial Flight -PA474 currently painted as JB607 “AR_L” 460 Squadron RAAF
  • RF128 “QB V” 424 Squadron RAF
  • ED932 “AJ G” 617 Squadron RAF
  • R5868 “PO S” 457 Squadron RAF

It’s worth mentioning that this is an MSFS 2020 native product, and while it’s compatible with MSFS 2024, it lacks its new features. Aeroplane Heaven mentioned that it could consider a native MSFS 2024 version down the line.

Rand Airport Released for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

JATSim Designs released Rand Airport (FAGM) in South Africa. It’s available on Flightsim.to for $12.00.

Mesh 2025 North Africa Released for P3D and Flight Simulator X

FlightSimDesignChile released a new mesh for P3D (v4, v5, and v6) and for the ole Microsoft Flight Simulator X. It comes with 30m resolution and covers Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Western Sahara, and more.

It’s compatible with Orbx’s scenery, and it’s available on Simmarket for $17.79.

  • sophisticated new algorithm for correct views of ridges and peaks
  • new algorithm for reducing irrelevant data for higher data compression and a new algorithm for finding and correcting errors
