Western Sydney Airport for MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020 Gets New Screenshots

Drzewiecki Design released more work-in-progress images of Western Sydney International Airport (YSWS) in Australia for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and MSFS 2020.

We also get the usual development update, as we know that the aiport will release this month.

“With the release of WSI just around the corner, this week was all about final touches, optimization, and realism.

At the terminal, the final details are being wrapped up — including interior screens, arrival boards, and the placement of animated passengers both inside and outside. The apron received a new dirt layer based on drone footage, as well as updated texture markings, animated escalators, and properly aligned CGL imagery near the highway overpasses.

We also placed custom fuel pumps tailored to three aircraft types, added more LOD models for objects like approach lights and windsock masts, and refined camera masts across the airside. Work continues on solving small but tricky sim-specific challenges, like glass transparency in MSFS2024 parallax shaders.

A new map view for YSWS is also being prepared to support a clean and immersive navigation experience from the start.”

Chatham-Kent Airport Released for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Ascreations released Chatham-Kent Airport (CYCK) in Canada. It’s available on Simmarket for $14.03.

It includes the following features.

  • Custom-Modeled Buildings and Objects: All structures — from hangars and the terminal to maintenance buildings — are faithfully rendered with realistic textures and details.
  • Custom Texturing: The main runway, taxiways, aprons, and parking stands feature custom surface textures for greater authenticity.
  • Functional RNAV Approaches: Fully functional RNAV approaches for both Runway 06 and 24 enable realistic and challenging operations in all conditions.
  • Lighting System: Realistic lighting placements illuminate the airport after dark, including a REIL (Rapid-Flash Runway End Identifier Light) approach lighting system at each end of the runway for aid in low-visibility landings.
  • Accurate Ground Layout: All pavement, lines, signage, and operational elements are placed to match their real-world counterparts, reflecting Chatham-Kent’s unique character and configuration.
  • Additional Detail: Static aircraft, ground service equipment, windsocks, fence lines, and other small details bring the airport to life, adding depth and character to every corner.
