Lockheed JetStar for Microsoft Flight Simulator Shows Work-in-Progress CIVA INS

Big Radials is continuing to work on its Lockheed JetStar business jet currently in early access, and this time we get to see work done on the CIVA INS, alongside a small development update from the developer.

“Back working on the CIVA INS today and updating the Aircraft Checklist with a section on initialising the CIVA. Going well so far but doing so made me realise I had to redo the way I had implemented inputs for setting the Initial Position and Updating/Inserting Waypoints.

I also found an issue when converting between decimal degrees to the DMS format the CIVA uses which is actually deg + minutes with seconds displayed as a 1/10th of a minute i.e. 30sec = 0.5mins. There were certain combinations of data entry that would create a conversion error since I store the positions in decimal. So that function got a rewrite

I’ve also started introducing error checking conditions so that the Alert button illuminates.”

If you’d like to get into flight simulation but you’re perhaps a bit intimidated by its apparent complexity, you can read our introductory guide, alongside the second episode focusing on installing add-ons, and another showcasing the basic instruments.
