Simulation Daily publishes a roundup every day for all the news across the flight simulation field, helping you keep up to date with the ins and outs of the industry.

Incidentally, today we released the 39th episode of our “This Week in Flight Simulation News” video series, recapping the most relevant news of the past seven days. Make sure to check it out to catch up on what you may have missed.

Without further ado, I leave you with the news.

Sainte-Marie Roland Garros Airport Announced for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Microsoft Flight Simulator Roland Garros Airport

FSDG announced Roland Garros Airport (FMEE) serving Sainte-Marie on the French island of Réunion, for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

We also hear that it’s likely that it’ll be converted for X-Plane at some point.

Boeing 737 Classic v2 for Microsoft Flight Simulator Gets New Screenshots

CSS released on Discord new screenshots of the models in development for V2 of its Boeing 737 classics.

We also get a development update explaining what we’re seeing.

“Interior

On the interior, our team is focusing on reworking the cockpit from scratch to achieve an incredible level of detail, the results of which can be seen on these renders of the new pedestal. Do keep in mind that this is all work in progress – what lies ahead is the intricate task of detailing and optimization. Some of the models shown will serve as a high-poly base for baking textures onto more lightweight models, which will ensure stunning visuals without a significant performance hit.

The area under the panels also still needs some work, e.g. adding seams, adjusting bolt heights and sizes and so on. Nonetheless, we couldn’t wait to show you the level of detail you’ll be seeing in V2!

Exterior

On the outside, we’re continuing work on the wings – we know we’ve previewed them before, but the wings are one of the most complex parts of an airplane. They require careful study and a lengthy modeling process to model properly – so there will always be something to improve, add, and, of course, preview!

Potentially the most interesting part of the wing is the Krueger flap – its complex shape and the amount of tiny details it has really makes our modelers show what they’re capable of, and pictured in this post is one of its sections that is currently in its final stages of being modeled. After this section is done, we’ll move onto the larger Krueger section and eventually its housing.

On the trailing side of things, we’ve completed the inner spoiler section and are now working actively on the wingtips.

Work is also progressing actively on the fuselage: all new nose-shape, wingbox and tail section with all of the 737’s famous features – and you will get to see all of that in the not so distant future, first in CSS News, and eventually, in your own sims!”
