Today, Frogware announced on their official Kickstarter page that they’ll be developing The Sinking City Remaster.
The news came on the verge of The Sinking City 2’s final days on the promotion platform, as it celebrates raising over 400% of its initial funding goal of $108k, which it managed to cross just a few hours after originally launching on Kickstarter earlier this month. The additions for the remaster are set to include:
- Game fully relit in Unreal Engine 5
- Enhanced locations with additional levels of detail and objects
- 4K textures and improved reflections
- Addition of a Photo Mode
- Support for DLSS, FSR, and TSR upscaling

The Sinking City Remaster will be free to all existing owners of The Sinking City on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The original was released in 2019 and received praise for its dedication to telling an authentic, story-driven horror about Lovecraftian mythos.
Frogwares has also garnered a reputation in the industry thanks to its work on the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series, which sold around 7 million copies worldwide. The Kickstarter campaign for the second installment in the series currently sits at $466,532 off 4,662 backers, with four days left to go in the project.
There is no release date for either The Sinking City Remaster or The Sinking City 2. We do know that they will be released on PC (Steam, EGS, GOG), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S and that playtests for the sequel are scheduled for some point in 2025, so keep an eye out for any news on access or a public demo.
