The Fertile Crescent 2: Collapse of the Bronze Age, a new story-driven RTS game, has just entered Early Access on Steam. In this sequel to The Fertile Crescent, ancient civilizations are falling apart, and survival matters more than conquest.
The game is set during the Late Bronze Age collapse, just as the title suggests. Players follow a man named Mutti and a group of warrior-farmers through the fall of ancient empires, all while gathering supplies, building armies, and protecting their families. Drought and famine strain the civilizations and unrest grows, making it difficult to maintain order. The campaign focuses on a strong narrative of carrying on through the collapse of civilization alongside class RTS gameplay mechanics.
At launch, Early Access includes 10 story missions covering the first two acts. There is multiplayer with up to four players and four playable factions. There is full save and load support for single-player modes and a variety of quality-of-life improvements since the original game.
A new trailer has launched alongside the Early Access release, which showcases the story, settlement building, factions, and real-time battles that the players can experience as they try to survive the end of the age. You can watch that trailer below.
The developer, Wield Interactive, promises to keep working on the game throughout the Early Access period, with Acts 3 and 4 of the campaign, multiplayer expanded to six players, and a map editor all planned for version 1.0. The team explains that releasing TFC2 in Early Access will allow players to provide feedback during the development process and that the aim is for Early Access to last for about three months.
