Bandai Namco has revealed Kunimitsu’s Tekken 8 gameplay, highlighting her tricky combat style’s flashy moves.
Kunimitsu uses ninjutsu as she fights, focusing on being unpredictable and playing mind games with her opponents to gain the upper hand. Because of this, her attacks are pretty fast, and she has multiple positioning-type moves to help her keep opponents off-guard.
Her playstyle revolves around switching between two stances, Katon and Facing Backward, to build her own power. There are new moves and ways to build Heat to do this. She needs to do this as she’s essentially dancing around her opponent, and as developers said during an inside interview, she’s fairly vulnerable if her opponent can read her moves.
Players can check out Kunimitsu’s fighting in Tekken 8 in her gameplay trailer, which can be viewed below:
The gameplay trailer also includes other information, like the skins coming with Kunimitsu. Besides a recolor of her main outfit, Kunimitsu also has a school uniform from a time when Kunimitsu went undercover at Mishima Polytechnical School. More information on her lore (and even her friend/enemy relationship with Reina) can be found in the developer interview.
Another trailer reveal for Kunimitsu is planned for May 24, 2026, at Combo Breaker.
Kunimitsu is set to release in Tekken 8 on May 27, 2026, in Early Access, then officially releasing on June 1, 2026. Players with the Year 3 Character Pass will be able to play her in Early Access. Tekken 8 is available to play on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
After Kunitmitsu’s release, Bob will be joining the roster in Summer 2026 and Roger JR. in Autumn 2026. There’s still a mysterious character coming in Winter, along with a new Stage and the Aurora Outfit Pack.
