Team Tokido has taken it all and become the International Street Fighter 6 Champion at Reject Fight Night x Sajam Slam: Grand Finals.
Team Tokido is part of the Japanese professional esports group, Reject, which helped put on the tournament. The team went through ten rounds of fierce, international competition leading up to the Grand Finals.
At the end of everything, Team Tokido went against Team Diaphone, a team based in the United States.
The teams were coached for months by professional players of the same name, Japanese player Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi and American player Tyler “Diaphone” Kusich. Both players are incredibly talented professional competitors, with Tokido winning the Street Fighter 6 tournament at Capcom Pro Tour Super Premier in Japan late last year.
Team Tokido played aggressively and overwhelmed Team Diaphone, who struggled to counter the Japanese team. When it was all said and done, Team Tokido took four rounds while Team Diaphone took one.
Reject Fight Night x Sajam Slam was a collaboration event that mixed new and veteran Street Fighter 6 talent with training and competition to pit Japanese teams against US/Canadian teams.
There are quite a few Street Fighter 6 tournaments. In fact, the official world championship Capcom Cup 11 ended just a week ago, which saw Japanese player Kakeru take the win.
Those who want to see the fighting from the Reject Fight Night x Sajam Slam Grand Finals can watch on Sajam’s official Twitch channel. There’s no word on whether or not it will return in the future at the time of writing.
