Task Force Admiral Achieves All the Stretch Goals on Kickstarter, More Coming

The Kickstarter campaign for Task Force Admiral – Vol.1: American Carrier Battles launched by Drydock Dreams Games is proving quite successful.

At the moment of this writing, $133,701 has been pledged by over 1,000 backers, which means that all the stretch goals have been unlocked.

This includes the ability to directly control ships and the dynamic campaign generator, which works as follows:

  • Battles will be generated dynamically, using our existing scenario generator as a foundation.
  • Your available forces will be historically grounded obviously, but evolving based on previous battle results.
  • In-between each engagement, you’ll have to make key strategic choices, picking between different battle opportunities that will affect the generated scenarios, possibly with some relevant manpower & logistics-related elements (aka leaders giving some bonus to their TF, supply-related matters, squadron rotation, etc…).

The developer mentions that a full-fledged Task Force 1942-type campaign will also come in the future, but the dynamic campaign generator fits the “commitment not to overextend and make the best use of available tech without sounding too crazy.”

It also may not come at launch but will be provided at no additional cost when it’s ready.

That being said, there are more stretch goals on the way, and they will be announced tomorrow. The campaign has been active only 5 days and there are 26 days to go, so there’s plenty of time to reach new heights.

If you want to contribute, you can do so at the official page of the campaign on Kickstarter. The campaign will end on March 22.

The game is already in an advanced stage of development, as it was revealed among the first wave of games coming under MicroProse‘s umbrella when the historical publisher was officially revived in 2019. A demo is playable on Steam.

It’s coming for PC, and no other platforms have been announced at the moment of this writing.

Full disclosure: the author of this post scrambled to back Task Force Admiral as soon as the Kickstarter campaign was made available.
