Drydock Dreams Games and MicroProse launched a Kickstarter campaign and a demo of their WWII strategy simulation game Task Force Admiral – Vol.1: American Carrier Battles.

The Kickstarter campaign (which is available to back right now) had a relatively modest $19,060 goal, which has already been achieved twice over and then some. At the moment of this writing it’s at $44,353.

The relatively modest amount is because the game is already deep in development (it was one of the first announced when MicroProse was officially revived in 2019), and the Kickstarter campaign mostly focuses on bringing a rich physical edition reminiscent of those of the golden years of PC strategy and simulation games.

The campaign will end on March 22, so there’s plenty of time to contribute to achieving some of the stretch goals.

Tiny 3D Crewmen that will populate the game’s ships and the orchestral soundtrack have already been achieved.

At $47,638 the timeline will be extended to 1943 with the latter part of the Solomons campaign and the air battles over Rabaul. This means the inclusion of Corsairs, Hellcats, A6M5s, and Essex-class carriers.

At $57,166, fighters will be made flyable. AT $69,869, you’ll be able to control anti-air guns as well. At $82,573 the tiny crewmen mentioned above will be animated and will go about their business on deck.

Last, but not least, at $95,277 you’ll be able to control whole ships.

The Kickstarter pledges, which start from $35 (there are lower tiers but $35 is the minimum if you want the game), mention a delivery window in December 2025. The game is coming to PC via Steam.

If you want to check out what this talented studio (which employs only 3 developers) is capable of, you can already play a demo, which was released today and is available on Steam.

You can also enjoy a very fetching trailer below.

Full disclosure: the author of this post scrambled to back Task Force Admiral as soon as the Kickstarter campaign was made available because this looks like a really cool game!
