One of the best and oldest League of Legends esports teams, T1, is getting a documentary on September 20, 2024.
T1, previously known as SKT or SK Telecom T1, has dominated the League of Legends esports space for over 10 years. It’s the only team to have won four World Championships in LoL. It’s one of the top teams in the game, holding that title for years.
Faker, the biggest esports name in League of Legends, has been a part of T1 since 2013. The rest of the team joined between 2018 and 2021, giving them years of playing together. This isn’t common in an esports environment where players are traded consistently.
Red Bull Media House is behind the T1 documentary. According to promotional info about it, the film will tell the story of how the team rose above the immense pressure to be the best. Fans can view it on T1’s official YouTube page later this month.
T1 has specifically felt pressure over the years as new talent has challenged the historically-dominant team. Gen.G, the second-best performing team in League of Legends, has given T1 a hard time recently.
Earlier this year, concerns arose over Faker’s mental health. He hit his head on a wall after a game against Gen.G. The two teams have been neck and neck against each other throughout this year. Faker’s frustration with his play at the LCK Summer match pushed him to the extreme action.
Mental health has always been a focal point of esports discussions. This T1 documentary may get into how the team is handling the pressure over the years, particularly as new talent that has been playing League of Legends since they were kids rises up.
