Today, Bandai Namco officially announced that its extraction shooter, Synduality: Echo of Ada, will end its online service after May 2027.
Synduality: Echo of Ada isn’t completely shutting down but is instead bringing the game’s PvPvE online experience into an offline, PvE-exclusive experience. The company also confirmed that an offline version is in development, allowing existing owners to continue playing after the online service ends without having to purchase the game again.
The offline version will be provided as a free update to customers who already own Synduality: Echo of Ada. Players who own the physical version can also access the offline experience by applying the offline-version update while using the applicable game disc.
As part of the transition to offline services, sales of paid in-game tokens, including Syn Coins, will end on December 18, 2026, at midnight JST. Players who already own Syn Coins will still be able to use them to purchase designated in-game content until the individual tokens expire, but no additional coins can be purchased after the sales deadline.
Syn Coins in Synduality: Echo of Ada are set to expire 150 days after initial activation, and Bandai Namco says the sales deadline was set to give players the full usage period for tokens purchased after the offline transition was announced. The company will not refund unused paid coins, so players should check their balances and expiration dates and use the currency before it expires.
Purchased items such as costumes will be eligible for transfer to the offline-exclusive version through the applicable data transfer process. The company will announce which purchases qualify, along with the transfer requirements and designated timeframe, when it shares more details about the transition.
Players will also need to complete a specific transition procedure to move their online play data to the offline version. The process will require a stable Internet connection while activating the game during the designated transfer period, and server-stored save data will be converted into local save data for the offline version; players who do not complete the procedure will start the offline version with new save data.
Bandai Namco plans to provide more information about the transfer process before it begins, including the required game version, a confirmation screen, specific procedures, and a method for checking whether the transfer has been completed. Save data transfers to local save data are scheduled to begin in December 2026.
The transition schedule begins with the September 26, 2026 announcement confirming the end of online service and the offline version, followed by the end of Syn Coins and other item sales on December 18, 2026. Additional details about the end of online service are expected around March 2027, with the online service scheduled to end after May 2027 and the game transitioning to its offline-exclusive format.
The October 2026 event is currently planned to be the final event featuring new content for the online service, with future updates and online events ending as part of the transition. Players can continue accessing the online version until the service officially ends, giving Drifters additional time to experience the existing PvPvE content alongside their Magus partners.
While the online service is coming to an end, Bandai Namco says the Synduality: Echo of Ada experience will continue through the offline version as a PvE extraction shooter. The standalone release will remove functions that require online connectivity while letting players continue their adventure, with additional information about the offline version, eligible purchases, and the data transfer process to be announced later.
Synduality: Echo of Ada launched in January 2025, receiving multiple seasonal updates throughout its first year, but its Steam population fell substantially over its first year and remained relatively low in 2026.
