Cozy Cooking Game Sushi on Wheels Gets Demo

Greene Rapture has announced that its upcoming cozy cooking game, Sushi on Wheels, now has a demo available to try on Steam. This demo comes ahead of Steam Cooking Fest and Steam Next Fest, both in which the game will be featured.

Set in Japan’s Izu Peninsula, Sushi on Wheels is a management game where players inherit their grandmother’s food truck after her death to complete her dying wish of starting a restaurant. With just her food truck and a dream, players set out to compete in food festivals, sell sushi, and upgrade the truck with the goal of opening a permanent establishment.

Players will build a reputation by choosing the best ingredients and deciding which type of sushi to create for customers. There will be opportunities along the way to customize the food truck, improve tools, expand the truck space, and unlock new outfits to customize the character.

Sushi on Wheels is inspired by the developer’s real-life experiences living and traveling throughout the Izu Peninsula in Japan. Here’s what founder of Greene Rapture Neil O’Sullivan Greene says about how the game came about:

“The idea for Sushi On Wheels came about while I was living in Japan with my partner and visiting her family,” says Neil O’Sullivan Greene, founder of Greene Rapture. “During that time, we took a trip to the Izu Peninsula, and I was immediately struck by how much character the area had. Between the seaside towns, beaches, mountains and local communities, it felt like the perfect setting for a cozy game, yet it wasn’t a part of Japan I had really seen represented in games before. I started imagining what a game set there could look like, and that eventually grew into Sushi On Wheels: a cozy management game about running a sushi food truck, travelling around the peninsula, meeting the people who live there and becoming part of the local community.”
