After debuting its demo during Steam Next Fest in June, which helped the game soar to over 300,000 wishlists, Astrolabe Interactive Inc. announced today that Aloft, their upcoming sandbox survival, would be heading to early access on January 15, 2025.

As you can see in the trailer below, Aloft will let its players take a floating island and transform it into their own personal skyship. The game will feature a lot of customizable elements for these unique vehicles, allowing you to outfit it with unique sails, rudders, helms, and much more to make it your own.

Building and crafting obviously play a huge role in the gameplay loop, but you’ll also need to cleanse corruption from islands’ ecosystems in order to unlock new items and locations that are necessary to progress. As you make your way across the many floating lands that make up Aloft, you’ll collect seeds from planting, animals to nurture, and ancient technology, all of which you can bring back to your skyship.

You’ll be able to accomplish this solo or in groups of up to eight players. When playing in co-op, players can bring their very own skyship with them into other worlds, creating their own village in the sky.

While there isn’t a release window in mind for leaving early access, it was noted that the developers will be listening to player feedback. Throughout this period, Aloft will implement new game mechanics, biomes to explore, challenges to overcome, items to craft, and much more.
