A new update in Steamworks Development gives developers new ways to show off their game and show off a bit more about what made their game come to be.

The first change tweaks the related games area on a Store Page. Developers can choose what titles are displayed here as long as they have a developer (or publisher or franchise page). This gives viewers an idea of where to go next to explore the series or where the series started.

Developers have the freedom to pick exactly which titles show up. They can also pick a larger pool of games that will automatically sort by best-selling, new releases, or relevance.

The second change lets developers highlight a specific DLC item at the top of the DLC list.

Developers can use this to show off the most recent DLC available, the most popular expansion, or even a good starting place for DLC content. There are also context tags for highlighted DLC, including New, Recommended, Coming Soon, Player Favorite, or Recommended for New Players.

Developers can find both of these Steamworks Development update settings in the Special Settings tab.

This update comes after Steamworks changed the rules for what’s allowed in game descriptions. Steamworks has gotten feedback from the community, both in-person recently at gamescom and from forums. While some developers are excited about today’s update, some have concerns about the impacts on indie developers.
