Interestingly enough, this sub-genre of games gets its name from the 1982 puzzle game designed for the NEC PC-8801 by Hiroyuki Imabayashi, in which players push boxes around a warehouse to get them into different storage locations. In Japanese, the word Sōko-ban means warehouse keeper.

Since 1982, there have been 13 different Sokoban games, with the most recent one, The Sokoban, releasing in 2021 on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. For more information on this and other upcoming Steam sales, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
