Cozy Island-Life Sim Starsand Island Hits Kickstarter

Seed Lab has officially launched the Kickstarter for Starsand Island, an adorably cozy life sim that’s projected to release in Q4 of this year.

Starsand Island takes players to an island with the same name as they leave behind their city lives and embrace slow-paced living. Starsand Island is the player’s childhood home.

As an adult, they’ll return to heal through farming, fishing, husbandry, and even through building relationships with the other islanders. The game also features deep-rooted DIY building and customization, giving players a lot of freedom over how the island looks.

That’s not all — there’s an exploration aspect that lets players ride around on skateboards (and later, e-bikes), dive into historic ruins, and even decode ancient legends.

All of these features are part of the professions system, which all have a mentor to help players learn. These include manufacturing, planting, animal husbandry, fishing, and adventure.

Of course, companionship on the island is another big part of the game. Starsand Island will let players romance various locals and even meet animal companions, including your typical cats and dogs to exotic local animals that are based in Asian culture and folklore.

The game itself is also gorgeous — it was inspired by Japanese animation. The developers said on Kickstarter that they hope to create the highest quality farm/life sim out there.

When it comes to backing the project on Kickstarter, there are a few options:

$25: thank-you from devs, five wallpapers, and Steam key
$35: previous rewards and Alpha Test Access via Steam
$45: previous rewards, Discord role, name in credits, and digital soundtrack
$65: previous rewards, digital artbook, exclusive in-game skateboard skin, exclusive in-game pet
$100: previous rewards, exclusive character pose, exclusive in-game animal ear outfit, exclusive in-game pet outfit, exclusive in-game furniture blueprint
$200: previous rewards, in-game town decoration set, exclusive in-game wedding dress, signed physical artbook
$400: precious rewards, add artwork to the game, exclusive in-game swimwear skin, exclusive in-game vehicle skin
$800: previous rewards, become a visitor NPC with customizable dialogue
$2,000: previous rewards, studio online open day, custom in-game high-end outfit (Steam only), custom in-game book design, exclusive custom photo from artist
$5,000: previous rewards, become a romanceable NPC, in-person Day with the Dev
$10,000: previous rewards, name the new outer island

So far, there are two stretch goals:

$100k: Ocean Park
$120k: More Character Customization

Richardo Wang, the Game Producer at Seed Lan, shared his excitement:

Golton Gao, the Producer at Seed Lab, also shared excitement:

“We’ve poured everything into creating a cozy world of comfort, creativity, and connection. With the community’s help, we’ll be able to build something truly special — a vibrant island where players can express themselves, explore freely, and find a sense of belonging.”

The Kickstarter will be up for 31 days, though many of the tiers have limited copies available.
