Seed Sparkle Lab launched Starsand Island in Early Access yesterday, and the developer has officially responded to concerns, feedback, and rumors that have cropped up in the first 24 hours the game has been available.
For immediate changes, there was an update in the user agreement that had players concerned about using mods and custom content. Seed Sparkle Lab was clear that there’s no anti-cheat system in the game, and that there are no plans to restrict players from using mods. In fact, the full release of the game will open up Steam Workshop.
Seed Sparkle Lab also revealed that it plans on adding more story content in the full release, along with more voice-acted lines. Of course, Starsand Island is in Early Access, so there are bugs and issues that the developers will continue patching out over time before the full release.
The developers also reiterated that there is no in-game purchase system, despite the rumors going around. There is a purchasable DLC with a few cosmetic items, though there’s also a free cosmetic pack.
Seed Sparkle Lab also explained that in-game themed events will be available in future updates, and the Red Note themed items will be available again there.
In another announcement, the developers addressed the seemingly artificial comments that were flooding the social platforms for the game. In a confusing twist, these comments were all praising it, and they were all posted with almost no playtime and were released at almost the same time.
While Seed Sparkle Lab doesn’t know exactly what’s going on, it asked whoever’s behind the praise bombs to stop.
There have also been issues addressed in the official Discord. Many of the game’s negative reviews surround a problem with Kickstarter keys not being received, which the developers have been working on consistently to distribute, though they’re being set back because of the strange behaviour on social platforms.
As Seed Sparkle Lab reiterated, the game is in Early Access, which means there are a lot of improvements and refinements on the way, and players can help improve the game with their own constructive feedback.
