Seed Lab has revealed a new trailer for Starsand Island, honing in on the customization options of the cozy life sim for the first time.
While fashionable outfits have been shown off in the past, this is the first time fans have seen the character customization options. Players will be able to choose their hairstyle, makeup, eye colors and pupil shapes, skin color, and more when they start the game.
Seed Lab has also pointed out that more options will be available after the game’s launch, as well.
That’s not all — players will have customization options for the various different traversal options, such as a scooter, roller skates, skateboards, cars, and even a paraglider. It’s not clear what these will look like on each option, but fans were able to see the interior, exterior, and wheel options for the car. There will also be decals that players can customize their cars with.
What’s more is that some of these vehicles allow for a friend. This can be an NPC, a pet, or even friends in the multiplayer gameplay feature. The camera feature will still be accessible when traveling this way, so players can capture their experiences with their friends.
Richardo Wang, Creative Director at Seed Lab, shared some thoughts about the customization options:

Whether you love socializing, adventuring, or simply enjoying a laid-back lifestyle, there’s warmth and happiness waiting for you here. This island embodies our vision of an ideal life, and we look forward to creating a unique dream world together with you.”
Additionally, Goltan Gao, Technical Director at Seed Lab, also spoke about the newly shown features:
“We want to make sure players are the true stars of their Starsand Island story. We’re building a game where they will have the freedom to decide how their character looks, how they travel and explore the island’s beautifully tranquil landscapes, and whether they go on their exciting adventures solo, with a pet, or with a friend. Crafting their dream island life is at the heart of every decision we’re making as we continue to create Starsand Island, and we’re excited to share more of the journey as BitSummit begins.”

Starsand Island launched its Kickstarter campaign earlier this year. The game ultimately ended with 295% of its funding goal when the Kickstarter ended.
Starsand Island is set to release on PC in Q4 of 2025.
