The event is titled “Save Stanton” and as with previous events, it’s going to include multiple phases and several missions.

The event’s story features an unknown gang of pirates likely coming from the (upcoming) Pyro system wreaking havoc in the Stanton System.

Completing all the missions before the launch of Alpha 4.0 (when Pyro will finally open to everyone) will grant a reward including the following:

  • x2 S2 Pyro Laser Repeaters
  • x2 S3 Pyro Laser Repeaters

Apparently, there are also other rewards coming, but they have not been revealed yet.

Below you can also check out a trailer setting the mood for the event.

The currently available Phase 1, titled “Chaos in the Spacelanes” prompts players to protect cargo ships under attack and make sure that they manage to get away safely, on top of recovering the supplies from freighters that have already been shot down.

Incidentally, the game will become free to play at the end of the month for a limited time, thanks to the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo (IAE) 2954 event.

If you’re unfamiliar with Star Citizen, it’s a crowdfunded project directed by Chris Roberts, known for creating the iconic Wing Commander series. It’s a multiplayer sandbox space simulator exclusive for PC.

The game has recently passed $737 million in crowdfunding ($737,423,613 at the moment of this writing) and counts 5,393,678 registered users. Of course, many of them aren’t paying customers, as they register accounts to enjoy Free Fly Events like one that’s coming at IAE

A few weeks ago, we also got to see plenty of features and tech coming to the game, on top of the overall vision for version 1.0, which will be the full release of the game, albeit it doesn’t yet have a date.

The game will also have a single-player campaign titled Squadron 42, starring an exceptional cast of famous actors including Mark Hamill, Henry Cavill, Gary Oldman, Liam Cunningham, Gillian Anderson, and more. Recently we saw plenty of gameplay and learned that it’ll release in 2026.

Since the project has been in development for over a decade, you can also see how Squadron 42 evolved since its first reveals.

Full disclosure: the author of this article has backed Star Citizen’s crowdfunding campaign.
